Looking to make the jump into the wonderful world of Warhammer?
It can be incredibly overwhelming if you're just getting started... The countless amount of armies, lore and styles of play is too much for any one person to learn inside out! Perhaps you don't know your Imperial Fists from your Imperial Guard or your Stormcasts from your Seraphon!
So if you're feeling like you need some quick tips to get started, here are 3 things that you can incorporate into your decision making so you can get collecting and start hobbying!
1) It's all about the aesthetic!
This one is pretty straight forward and should be you NUMBER ONE priority when choosing your first army. Through the countless hours of building, painting every nook and cranny and time spent slaughtering your enemies on the battlefield, you are going to be spending A LOT of time around these models. With that in mind, doesn't it make far more sense to choose an army that you simply like the look of! If you don't find yourself falling in love with how your army looks, pretty soon you'll find yourself uninspired and putting yourself off the hobby.
2) How do you play?
This is another biggie, want to play a close combat army? Choose Orks (or orruks, whatever your preference) and not a ranged army like Tau! Learn how your army play on the tabletop and see if it fits the play style you're looking for.
If you're looking to find out how a certain army plays, 1d4chan.org is your best place to start!
3) Do your homework!
Don't jump in straight away! As tempting as your new models may look and sound, do as much research into the army as possible before you make the plunge! When you are ready, dip your toe and start small! Go for a start collecting box, or one HQ and 2 lots of troops, you'll be able to see if they are the one for you!
Happy wargaming!
