5 Hobby Projects To Try In 2019

Whether it's your first time dipping your toes into the wonderful world of Warhammer or if you're a seasoned veteran with 3 golden demons under your belt, every now and again we all need a little extra inspiration... That's why we came up with 5 quick ideas to try this year to try to scratch your hobby itch for 2019!

1) Tales Of Instahammer

The folks at Tales Of Instahammer are simply fantastic. They are a wonderfully supportive community who have all embarked on a collective journey of building, painting and playing new armies throughout 2019. With new challenges and themes set each month, this is certainly something that will help get you the motivation you need to keep painting!

2) Terrain

It's easy for the models to get all the attention, but don't neglect the importance of your terrain, good terrain can make or break a game!

You might be playing with the equivalent of the Mona Lisa of models, but if you're still using books as buildings... Make terrain your new project! Adding terrain to any board makes the experience infinitely better! We promise!

3) Skirmish!

If you're looking to REALLY inject some personality into your hobby experience, try a skirmish game!

Games such as Kill Team, Necromunda or my personal favourite, Middle Earth: Battle Companies are all amazing ways to create life long gaming memories! By using a far smaller number of models in each game, you can give every single one their own characteristics, names, backstories etc. So when they kill (or are killed!) the experience is only made that much more dramatic!

4) Branch Out Of Your Comfort Zone

If you're finding yourself at a painting or sculpting plateau, try to learn a new skill!

Ever tried painting non-metallic metals? Or even just edge highlighting? Perhaps you've never used green stuff before? There is always something new for you to try! Who knows, that golden demon could be yours before you know it!

5) Try something COMPLETELY NEW!

Playing the same set of rules over and over again, things can get a little repetitive... If you really want to try something new, try a new game all together! Other, non GW games such as Malifaux, or Infinity still provide the nail biting experience that comes with tabletop gaming but in a setting which you may enjoy just as much (maybe even more!) Whilst GW are top of the food chain when it comes to miniature gaming, there are still plenty of other, more niche games out there!
